Peruvian Foreign Minister Fernando De Trazegnies has arrived in Moscow on an official visit.
The minister declared at Moscow airport that Peru and Russia have excellent relations and that he was hoping that the visit would promote development and strengthening of bilateral relations in a number of directions.
Fernando de Trazegnies told journalists that he attaches great importance to the visit. He noted that it was the first visit paid by a foreign minister of Peru to Russia over he past 20 years. During the visit a number of bilateral documents will be signed, including documents pertaining to the visa regime, the guest said. Asked whether the problem of military technical cooperation and purchase of weapons will be discussed during the visit, Fernando de Trazegnies said that Peru and Russia have good political and commercial relations, adding that cooperation in the military-technical field was not domineering.
According the programme of the visit of the Peruvian foreign minister, on Wednesday, he will have talks with Russian Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov. The meeting will be followed by signing a number of bilateral documents and a joint press conference of the Russian and Peruvian foreign ministers.
At 4.00 PM the Peruvian foreign minister is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Sergei Stepashin.
On July 15, Fernando De Trazegnies is scheduled to meet Chairman of the Federation Council Yegor Stroyev and Deputy Duma speaker Arthur Chilingarov. On July 16, the Peruvian minister is leaving for St.Petersburg.
