A distinctive feature of Oriental studies has always been the complexity of research. Indeed, just a quick glance is enough to draw an unambiguous conclusion about the breadth and variety of problems. This situation is largely determined by the specifics of studying the region, in the European tradition called the East. Even for non-specialists, it is clear that the East is not so one-dimensional that large sub-regions can be found in a vast space that differ sharply from each other. Nevertheless, the general idea remains that " The East is a delicate matter." Everyone understands that it is necessary to keep in mind the significance of many features, including an unusual culture, languages that differ in their structure and writing, and special worldview systems that have become the subject of admiration, worship, and imitation in the countries of the Old World. It was in the Oriental studies community that it was possible to undertake such a large-scale effort as the creation of the interdisciplinary scientific journal "Historical Psychology and Sociology of History". Its goal was to gather under one cover the research potential of Russian Oriental studies and representatives of, in fact, related disciplines: psychology, cultural studies, philosophy, linguistics. In fact, there has always been such communication, but it was mostly individual in nature. After all, did not Oriental studies study certain aspects of the history and development of countries and peoples? Even the current state, caused by the complexities of the "transition period", demonstrates the amazing versatility and lability of Russian fundamental science. The new journal, unlike other "fat" scientific brethren, stands out from the general background in that it is a kind of discussion club, addressed both to scientists-specialists and to less prepared readers.
