The end of World War II coincided with the beginning of the nuclear age in August 1945. The United States of America bombed the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki with atomic bombs. Humanity's entry into the nuclear age has dramatically changed international relations and their nature. It radically influenced the economy and politics, worldview and culture. One of the fundamentally new qualities of social and political life has become the anti-war movement, whose main task is to prevent a new world war and the use of nuclear weapons.
The purpose of this article is to show the contribution of the anti - war movement to solving one of the most important and complex problems of war and peace, which has become in our time the problem of freeing the European continent from nuclear weapons, the problem of limiting and stopping their production, and then completely eliminating them.
The complexity and complexity of this task grew with the accumulation and improvement of nuclear weapons arsenals, following the steady increase in the share of this factor in the entire system of international relations. Accordingly, the attitude of the peace-loving forces of the public towards nuclear weapons and the nuclear arms race as a source of special danger developed, which was reflected in the demands and slogans, forms and methods of the anti-war movement.
This makes it necessary to consider in this article not only the current state of the struggle for a nuclear-free Europe, but also at least briefly - its most important early stages, at which the foundation was laid, the most essential elements of today's anti-nuclear, anti-missile platform of the movement were worked out.
