Weekly magazine "Border of Russia" - 5 years old?

Patrols, chases for violators, control and trace strip, outpost in the mountains, by the sea, in the forest... This is how the border at the level of mass consciousness has been seen since Soviet times. The sentries of our borders did not experience a lack of attention and care on the part of the state and local authorities, public figures and cultural figures, and the media. And service in the border troops has always been honorable and prestigious.

But oddly enough, unlike the army, the 200-thousandth contingent of border guards did not have their own central newspaper (the literary and artistic magazine Pogranichnik, published once a month, does not count).

With the dramatic changes in the geopolitical situation caused by the collapse of the USSR and the transfer of the state border, the Russian "border guards" faced new challenges. After the KGB was abolished, the border guard agency acquired an independent status. And in the activities of the Federal Border Service itself, there is more transparency and openness.

It was then, in 1994, that the border guards had their own central newspaper, The Border of Russia.

From the very beginning, the journalistic team of "Borders of Russia" tried to ensure that it was not perceived only as a special, purely departmental publication, but was aimed at a wide range of readers. After all, the problems of protecting the borders of the Fatherland, border security, everyday life, heroics and romance of service, the military and political situation in neighboring countries and in foreign countries - all this is interesting for an ordinary soldier-border guard and pre-conscript, cadet and veteran, politician and diplomat, writer and historian, screenwriter and cinematographer.

That is why the newspaper is a welcome guest at remote outposts, in military and civilian universities, in veterans ' and public organizations, in Russian and foreign embassies, and in both houses of parliament. State Duma deputies Vladimir Altukhov, Valentin Varennikov, Eduard Vorobyov, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, Gennady Zyuganov, Alexander Shabanov, Sergey Yushenkov and other parliamentarians representing almost the entire spectrum of political parties and movements spoke on the pages of the newspaper.

As for the foreign audience, the" Border of Russia " is known and carefully read (in many cases, as they say, with a pencil in hand) not only in the near abroad, but also in England, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Iraq, China, Japan, the United States and even in distant South Africa!

The fusion of journalism, an interesting presentation of materials with objectivity, balance and science - this is what, in the opinion of readers, attracts them to the newspaper. The relatively small but friendly creative team consists of 6 participants of Afghan events, 2 members of the Writers 'Union, 1 member of the Cinematographers' Union, and 2 professional musicians-authors and performers of their own songs. The scientific potential of the editorial office is also great - 4 candidates of sciences representing different fields of knowledge. Agree, not every central newspaper can boast of such an inflorescence.

For five years, the journalists of "Borders of Russia" have published more than two hundred issues of the newspaper. And in each of them - a piece of their experience, knowledge, love for their profession, for fighters in green caps. These qualities are clearly visible in many publications of the central border weekly newspaper.
